Here in Werfen, between three alpine massifs – the Tennengebirge, Hagengebirge and Hochkönig – everyone reaches their dream destination. Be that during a leisurely stroll through the valley, a beautiful walk through lush alpine meadows dotted with grazing cows,
or one of the many high-peak hikes amid the intact mountain world which surrounds us – fascinating insights into the wonders of nature plus magnificent scenery guaranteed!
If you set out on “the trail of the blue gentian”, you are certain to find happiness right along the trail’s edge: in 120 rustic mountain huts, spending the night in a bed of hay, or snacking on Pongau-style delicacies. For 10 years now, the 350 km-long Salzburger Almenweg has been one of the most popular long-distance hiking paths in Austria.
The 25 stages, taking you across the length and breadth of the Salzburg-Pongau region, range from easy to challenging, and are equally as diverse. Many of them are suitable for families with children as well as rookies. Others, for their part, are the sole domain of summiteers and “mountain goats”.
